Redmi’s most powerful gaming smartphone Turbo 5 launched in India:Starting at ₹35,999 for 256GB, it packs Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip and 50MP camera
Tech company Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi today launched its most powerful gaming smartphone to date, the Redmi Turbo 5, in India. The company has called it the fastest and most powerful mid-range Redmi phone yet. The phone comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset. Its biggest feature is its large 7540mAh battery, which, according to the company’s claims, can provide more than 2 days of backup on a single charge. The phone is designed for users looking for a high-performance device for heavy gaming and multitasking.
Redmi Turbo 5: Starting price ₹35,999 The phone has been introduced in two variants. Its 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at ₹37,999, but after a bank offer discount of ₹2,000, it can be purchased at a starting price of ₹35,999. Meanwhile, its top variant, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, is priced at ₹38,999. Under launch offers, an instant bank discount of ₹2,000 will be available on SBI, ICICI, or Axis Bank credit cards or credit card EMIs. Additionally, there is also a no-cost EMI option for up to 9 months.
The phone’s sale will start in India from June 19. It can be purchased from Xiaomi’s official website, retail stores, and e-commerce websites. It will compete with smartphones like OnePlus Nord 6 and Vivo V70 FE. Design: Aerospace-grade metal frame and Pixel Matrix Ring Light In terms of design, this phone gives a very premium feel. The phone has a glass finish on both sides (front and back), which makes its grip and in-hand feel very smooth when held. Despite having a large battery, the phone’s thickness is only 8.18mm. On its back panel, near the camera, Redmi Pixel Matrix Ring Lights are provided, which glow in different colors when calls, music, gaming, and notifications arrive. For durability, it features an aerospace-grade metal frame, and the front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone has a Type-C charging port, SIM tray, and speaker grille at the bottom, while the power button and volume rockers (switches) are on the side.
For protection against water and dust, it has received an all-round rating of IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, making it completely safe. Redmi Turbo 5: Specifications Display: The phone features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen. This display comes with 12-bit color support, 3500 nits peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. To make gaming smooth, it has a 2560Hz instant touch sampling rate.
For eye safety, 3840Hz PWM dimming and TUV Rheinland triple certification are provided. On the front, there is a punch-hole selfie camera in the center with very thin bezels. Camera: For photography, it has a dual camera setup on its back panel. The primary camera is a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and EIS support, capable of 4K video recording at 60fps. It comes with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, there’s a 20MP camera on the front. It includes features like ‘Turbo Snap’ for fast photos of moving objects, and AI Erase and AI Expand. Performance: It features a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, which is based on 4nm technology and has a clock speed of 3.4GHz. It comes with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The company claims its AnTuTu score is over 2.3 million. To keep the phone cool during gaming, it features a 3D IceLoop cooling system, WildBoost Optimization, and Game Turbo mode. This phone runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS, which will receive 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates. Battery and Charger: For power backup, the phone is equipped with a large 7540mAh battery. Along with this, a 100W HyperCharge fast charger is included in the retail box. It charges the phone to 51% in 30 minutes and fully in about 70 minutes. It also features 27W wired reverse charging, allowing you to charge other phones or gadgets. Other Features: For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, an IR blaster, and offline communication. It does not have a 3.5mm audio jack, but for better sound, it features dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, which can deliver up to 200% volume output. Additionally, advanced features like Circle to Search and Google Gemini AI are also built in.
