Vikram-1 creates history, successfully placing payloads into orbit:India becomes the 3rd country to achieve private orbital launch capability
India’s private space sector created history today as Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1, the country’s first privately developed orbital rocket, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Although the liftoff was delayed from its original schedule due to a brief internal hold, the rocket successfully lifted off at 12:05 pm, completing a landmark mission for India’s commercial space industry.
Following the successful launch, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Skyroot team over the phone, congratulating them on the historic achievement and praising their contribution to India’s growing space ambitions.
