WhatsApp’s 4 new features will make group chats easier:Permanent pinned messages, 24-hour status, access to old chats for new members, and more

WhatsApp is introducing four new features to make group chats easier to manage. The updates are designed to help users find important messages, catch up on old conversations and share updates with selected groups. The new features include the option to pin messages indefinitely, share recent chat history with existing group members, post Status updates for specific groups and filter unread messages based on mentions and replies. These changes could be useful for users who are part of multiple WhatsApp groups, where important information can often get buried under hundreds of messages. Here is a look at the four new features and how they work. What are the 4 new WhatsApp group chat features?
1. Pin important messages indefinitely WhatsApp users can now pin important messages in a group without worrying about them getting unpinned automatically after a set period. Earlier, users had to choose a time limit for pinned messages. With the new update, they can keep a message pinned indefinitely. This can help group members quickly find important details such as event timings, meeting information, travel plans or group rules. 2. New members can catch up on old conversations WhatsApp is making it easier for new members to understand what has been discussed in a group before they joined. Group members can now share recent chat history even after someone has joined the group. To do this, they need to tap the new member’s name in the group chat and share the recent messages. The shared messages will remain end-to-end encrypted, just like regular WhatsApp conversations. This feature can help new members catch up without asking others to repeat important details. 3. Share separate Status updates with WhatsApp groups WhatsApp is also introducing Group Status, which allows users to share Status updates with members of a particular group. For example, if someone wants to share an update about a cricket match with their cricket group, they will not have to share it with their family members or other contacts. Group members can view these updates, react to them and share their own Status updates. Like regular WhatsApp Status, these updates will also disappear after 24 hours. 4. Find unread messages through mentions and replies With the new filter, users can quickly find unread group conversations where someone has mentioned them or replied to their messages. It will also include messages sent using the @all tag, which notifies everyone in the group. This means users will not have to go through every unread conversation to find messages that need their attention. When will these WhatsApp features be available? WhatsApp is gradually rolling out these four features to users. This means they may not appear on every account immediately. Users can check for the latest WhatsApp update on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
