Ashish opens India’s account with javelin silver at world c’ships

Ashish Yadav won a silver in the men’s javelin throw event to open India’s medal account, while national senior record holder Pooja Singh qualified for the women’s high jump final at the World Athletics U-20 Championships here.
Yadav’s third round throw of 74.09m fetched him the silver medal while T Dharanidharan, the other Indian in the finals on Friday, finished sixth with 72.35m.
