Holding a rally without permission? New Karnataka bill proposes jail term

In an effort to maintain safety during public events, Karnataka is drafting new rules that could impose fines and elevate penalties to three years in prison for unauthorized protests. The proposed legislative measures aim to bolster crowd control and reduce risks of stampedes. Notably, certain events, including weddings and funeral processes, will be exempt, emphasizing a commitment to both public order and the preservation of individual freedoms.
