Back to politics? Karnataka’s campuses set to hear students’ voices again
Karnataka is set to reintroduce campus politics after a 37-year ban on student elections. The government aims to nurture leadership and provide a pathway into public life for students. Elected student unions were replaced by nominated councils which held little power. The ban was imposed due to concerns over violence and political interference on campuses. This move is expected to foster democratic participation and address student issues effectively.
