Fungal onions, plastic in idlis: Karnataka food raids expose rampant violations at railway stations
A food safety inspection at 36 Karnataka railway stations found suspected non-permitted colours in sweets. Expired dairy products and fungal growth on vegetables were also discovered during the inspections. Unhygienic conditions were noted in some railway station hotels and food preparation areas. Vande Bharat trains were found to be maintained clean, though some food products raised concerns.
