Prestigious magazine ‘Time’ has released its ‘TIME100 AI 2026′ list of the 100 most influential figures reshaping the world of AI. Ten people of Indian origin have made a strong presence on this global list. They include IBM Chairman Arvind Krishna and Anima Anandkumar of Mysuru. These Indians and people of Indian origin are working on everything from AI chips to making the technology safe and responsible. The list also includes Sarvam AI co-founder Vivek Raghavan, Bayesian Health leader Saria, Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S., Encode Co-Executive Director Sunny Gandhi, and Tech Justice Law founder Mitali Jain. Anima Anandkumar – Bringing a revolution from weather forecasting to medicine Graduate of IIT Madras… The Caltech professor has developed algorithms that understand physical processes millions of times faster. Her technology is being used to make accurate weather predictions, develop medical devices, and discover sustainable energy sources. As a member of the UN’s scientific advisory board, she is helping ensure that AI is used for the benefit of weather forecasting, healthcare, and science. 2. Arvind Krishna – The Future Belongs to Small AI Systems Built for Specialized Tasks Graduate of IIT Kanpur… The IBM chairman has chosen a different path in the AI race. He believes that in the age of AI, not taking risks is the greatest risk. The future belongs to small, expert AI systems built for specialized tasks. With this vision, he is emphasizing the development of practical AI solutions tailored to companies’ needs. 3. Utkarsh Saxena – His AI Tool Is Delivering Speedier Justice Across 11 States
Having served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court, he began using AI in the judiciary through ‘Adalat AI.’ According to the company, its technology has reached more than 6,000 judges across 11 states. The Andhra Pradesh High Court will implement it in all district courts starting in October. They were shaken after seeing a helpless prisoner waiting for his case to be heard for 12 years, which inspired this initiative. 4. Sanjay Mehrotra – The Chip Maestro Accelerating AI ‘High-bandwidth memory’ is a specialized chip that is so fast and capable that it can handle the massive data used by large AI models. Only three companies in the world manufacture it, including Micron. After suffering heavy losses, he focused the company on this chip and gave it a historic edge. He is also a scientist and engineer, with 70 U.S. patents registered in his name. 5. Arvind Raman – Working to Make AI Responsible and Safe The director at the National Institute of Standards and Technology is an expert in evaluating and validating advanced AI systems.
