Google’s ‘Guided Vision’ helps people with visual impairments:WhatsApp-like message themes; Gemini gets 5 Android updates
Google has released the September Android update. This time, the company has focused on messaging and its AI assistant. Several new features have been added to Google Messages, Find Hub, and Gemini. One of these features will help users remember where they have kept items, even without an internet connection.
Meanwhile, Motion Assist will help reduce dizziness and nausea caused by using a phone while travelling in a moving car or bus. Along with this, the chat theme feature has now been launched in Google Messages. However, some features are yet to be rolled out. Major changes in Google Messages… understand all the updates here 1. Find Hub: Gemini will help you remember where you have kept important items Android’s Find Hub can now save the location of items that do not have an internet connection. For example, you can save where you have kept your passport in Find Hub. Later, you can open Find Hub to check where you kept the item. You can also save a photo to make it easier to identify specific items. 2. Motion Assist: Less dizziness when looking at your phone in a moving vehicle Google’s Motion Assist will display small bubbles on the screen. These bubbles will move according to the movement of your body and the vehicle. The aim is to reduce the difference between the motion signals received by your eyes and body. This feature is available for Android 17. It is currently being rolled out gradually. 3. Guided Vision: Camera shows, Gemini tells Through Gemini Live, when you point the camera at an object, Gemini can tell you what is visible in front of the camera. This can be useful for people with low vision.
You can set up a Guided Vision shortcut by going to Settings > Accessibility > Shortcuts. 4. Google Messages now has Keep checklists… useful for group chats Google Messages will now allow users to share Google Keep notes and checklists during chats. Other people in a group chat can also make changes to the list. To use this feature, open a chat, tap the + button and select the yellow light bulb icon for Keep. 5. Google Messages will offer WhatsApp-like chat themes Google Messages will now allow users to choose themes, wallpapers, and even their own photos for individual chats. Keep in mind that the photo or theme you apply will only be visible to you and not to the other person in the chat. It will also not apply to the entire Messages app.
To use it, open a chat, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, select Chat Theme, and choose your preferred colour, wallpaper, or photo.
