The Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the Mumbai Indians` target of 244 runs with an over and 6 wickets to spare. SRH dominated from the off and registered a record chase at the Wankhede Stadium.

Chasing MI`s target of 244, the Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start as they raced to 92 runs for the loss of zero wickets in the first 6 overs.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head both found their groove from the off, as they dominated the MI bowling. Abhishek scored 45 runs in 24 balls, while his opening partner, Head, found his touch again and scored 76 off 30 deliveries.

Later, Heinrich Klassen scored 65 runs in 20 balls to take the visitors home with 6 wickets to spare.

After the defeat, Hardik Pandya said that the bowling let his team down today. This is the first time an opponent team has chased over 200 runs against MI at the Wankhede Stadium.

“I think 244, I think I`ll back my bowlers to stop it, but some other day today we could not execute. Myself, really enjoyed bowling as well, barring the last three balls, but other than that, really enjoyed myself. (Missed chances in the field) Yes, I think it`s been that kind of season. When you get a couple of chances, you grab them, that`s when the luck and momentum changes. If you don`t, it kind of hurts you, but it`s still fine. All the boys tried really well. They gave everything, it did not work out. (How do you address the issues with bowling?) I think this season we don`t have much option, we really need to see what all differences we can do. I won`t put my bowlers under the bus. I think as an overall unit, we have not been able to do what exactly Mumbai Indians stands for. We really need to see what all we need to work on and it`s fine. I think we have passionate owners, we have passionate support staff. We always figure out something.” Pandya said.

MI scored 243 in the first innings

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians scored a mammoth 243 runs in 20 overs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ryan Rickelton starred for the hosts as he scored 123 runs in just 55 balls.

MI`s new opening pair of Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton raced to a 50-run partnership in just 25 balls to give the hosts a perfect start. Jacks eventually departed for 46 off 22 balls, but Rickelton continued dominating the SRH bowlers.

Rickelton smashed his maiden IPL hundred as he scored an unbeaten 123 in just 55 balls. The southpaw hit 10 fours and 8 sixes in his blistering knock, which took MI to a massive score of 243 runs. He became the third player to score a century for MI in this IPL after Quinton de Kock and Tilak Varma.

Naman Dhir chipped in with 22 runs, while Hardik Pandya hit a flurry of boundaries at the death and scored a quickfire 31 runs off 15 deliveries to end the MI innings on a high.

For SRH, Eshan Malinga was the best bowler with figures of 1/29 in his four overs, in what was a tough night for the bowlers.
