In the Women`s T20 World Cup 2026 match against Pakistan, Team India emerged victorious by 64 runs at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
During the match, Team India`s star batswoman Smriti Mandhana played a crucial knock of 68 runs off 44 deliveries, laced with nine boundaries and two maximums.
Speaking about her, former Team India cricketer Anjum Chopra heaped praise by saying that she has always seen Mandhana as a “stylish” and “accomplished batter”.
“Look, she is a star player. She is a stylish player. And she continues to score runs, getting India the win. I have always seen Smriti as a stylish batter, as an accomplished batter. And obviously, she has risen through all the runs that she has scored for herself and for the team. She has earned the ICC Women Cricketer of the Year award more than once, and I think twice. She has already done that,” she told PTI.
“So, she is already an accomplished batter. I will not classify her as the best player ever to play for India or not. She is very good. That is why she is scoring runs, and that is why she is the ICC Cricketer of the Year more than once,” added Chopra.
VIDEO | Former India captain Anjum Chopra said India`s chances at the ongoing World Cup will heavily depend on Smriti Mandhana`s form and consistency. Anjum said there was no denying the fact that what she has been able to do no other Indian batter has ever been able to.
