Apple unveils two new smartwatches AirPods 5:Smarter health tracking and live translation features arrive

The iPhone duo may have grabbed most of the attention at Apple’s September 9 event, but the company also introduced several major updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods. The new Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 come with improved health and fitness tracking, while the new AirPods feature enhanced Active Noise Cancellation and live translation. Meanwhile, the Siri AI feature, long awaited for more than two years, is also expected to begin rolling out next month. The new Apple Watch models will now measure heart rate every five seconds. The watches can also measure heart-rate variability (HRV) up to 24 times more frequently than before. HRV refers to variations in the time interval between two consecutive heartbeats and is considered an indicator of stress and the body’s recovery. Every morning, the watch will give users a score between 0 and 10, indicating whether it is better to rest that day or go ahead with a normal workout. The new health-tracking system will provide one of four daily recommendations: Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, and Go For It. These recommendations will be based on recent physical activity, training, sleep and various vital signs. The Apple Watch Series 12 offers up to 10 hours of battery life during outdoor tracking. The Watch Ultra 4 can provide up to 50 hours of outdoor usage. In Low Power Mode, the Ultra 4 can reportedly last for up to 84 hours. The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at ₹56,900, while the Watch Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900. Pre-orders for both models have already begun, with deliveries starting September 18. The new Audio Intelligence feature can help people who are hard of hearing or deaf by alerting them to important sounds nearby, such as sirens, alarms or a baby crying. Another feature, called Live Rewind, will provide a written summary of the previous 15 seconds of a nearby conversation. The watch also gets a new Shazam feature that can identify songs playing around you. However, these features could also raise privacy questions, particularly because they involve listening to and processing nearby sounds or conversations. AirPods Gen 5 Better background noise reduction and live translation The new AirPods 5 reportedly reduce background noise by 50% more compared with the previous generation. They also introduce a live translation feature. During a conversation with someone speaking another language, speech can be translated into your preferred language almost instantly through the AirPods. The AirPods 5 are priced at ₹14,900, while the model with wireless charging support starts at ₹17,900.
