In the Asian Games 2026 semi-final match against Sri Lanka, Team India secured a victory by a huge margin of 124 runs at the Aichi Prefectural Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
In an attempt to chase a target of 170 runs, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 45 runs in 9.5 overs.
Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Sineth Jayawardene departed on a two-ball duck, whereas fellow opening batsman Lasith Croospulle was dismissed on a zero-ball duck.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sohan de Livera departed on a three-ball duck. Nuwanidu Fernan scored 15 runs in 11 balls, with the help of two maximums, whereas skipper Sahan Arachchige was dismissed on nine runs in eight balls, which included two boundaries. Ashen Bandara also lost his wicket on a three-ball duck. Wanuja Sahan managed to score one run in eight balls. Facing 15 balls, Tharindu Rathnayake registered five runs, including a boundary. Chamika Karunaratne scored four runs in eight balls.
Binura Fernando also departed on a one-ball duck. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth stayed unbeaten without facing any balls.
Team India’s Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Abhishek Sharma bagged two wickets each. Washington Sundar also claimed one wicket. Ravi Bishnoi went wicketless in the Asian Games 2026 semi-final match against Sri Lanka.

Earlier, having been put to bat first, Team India’s swashbuckling Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 38 runs off 21 balls. His knock was laced with six boundaries and two maximums. Fellow opening batsman Abhishek Sharma departed after scoring seven runs in three balls, including a maximum.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson also managed to score seven runs in nine balls, which included a boundary. Captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed on 13 runs in 13 balls, including a boundary.
Axar Patel returned to the pavilion after scoring eight runs in 13 balls. Tilak Varma was dismissed on two runs in four balls. Shivam Dube was also dismissed on three runs in nine balls. Ishan Kishan delivered an unbeaten knock of 80 runs off 46 deliveries, which saw him smash four boundaries and five maximums. Along with him, Washington Sundar garnered unbeaten seven runs in three balls, with the help of a maximum. With this, the “Men in Blue” posted a total of 169 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka’s Sahan Arachchige and Tharindu Rathnayake bagged two wickets each. Wanuja Sahan, Lasith Croospulle, and Nuwanidu Fernando also claimed one wicket each. Binura Fernando and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth went wicketless in the Asian Games 2026 semi-final match against the “Men in Blue”.
