‘Bridge Man’ who linked lives, villages dies at 76
Padma Shri Girish Bharadwaj, known as the ‘Bridge Man of India’, has passed away. He designed and built over 140 affordable suspension footbridges across India. Bharadwaj’s innovative bridges connected isolated communities to essential services and opportunities. He was honored with the Padma Shri award in 2017 for his significant contributions. The state government announced a state funeral for the pioneering engineer.
