‘Chhathi Maiya’: Tamannaah Bhatia brings Chhath to ‘The Vvaan’

The makers of “The Vvaan” on Thursday released “Chhathi Maiya”, a devotional song celebrating Chhath Puja and the cultural traditions associated with Bihar.

The song, composed and sung by Vishal Mishra with lyrics by Kaushal Kishore, features actor Tamannaah Bhatia, who features in the movie along with Sidharth Malhotra.

“Chhathi Maiya” brings the festival’s spiritual essence into the folklore fantasy world of the upcoming film.

Tamannaah said she was excited to bring the festival and the cultural pride of Bihar to the big screen through the song.

“It feels surreal to be a part of ‘The Vvaan’ and bring to life the pride of Bihar and Patna by celebrating Chhath for the first time on the big screen of Indian film industry through ‘Chhathi Maiya’,” she said in a statement.

“It’s our humble attempt to bring the Bihari pride of India on the big screen, and all we hope is that the audience feels equally spiritual and devotional the way we felt throughout the journey,” she added.

Mishra said the song was an opportunity to bring the Chhath tradition, deeply rooted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, to Hindi cinema.

“It is truly an honour and a blessing for me to bring the faith and sacred tradition of Chhath, deeply rooted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, to Hindi cinema for the first time,” he said.

According to the makers, “Chhathi Maiya” also offers a glimpse into the spiritual side of “The Vvaan” and highlights the significance of Van Devi, which is central to the film’s folklore-inspired world.

“The Vvaan” is written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra. The film combines folklore, fantasy, adventure, mystery and humour.

Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari, the film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11.11 Production.

“The Vvaan” is scheduled to release in theatres on September 25.
