Google Photos will clear your trash bin in 30 days:Users will now have only 1 month to restore accidentally deleted pictures and videos

Have you ever deleted a photo by mistake and recovered it weeks later? You may soon have less time to get it back. Google Photos has shortened the period for which deleted photos and videos remain in the Trash folder. At the same time, Google is reportedly working on a new feature that could make adding events to your calendar much easier. Here is what is changing and how these updates could affect users. Google Photos reduces photo recovery time to 30 days Google has updated its Trash folder policy, reducing the time users have to recover deleted photos and videos. Earlier, photos and videos backed up to a Google account stayed in the Trash folder for 60 days before being permanently deleted. Under the updated policy, this period has been reduced to 30 days. The new limit also applies to media stored locally on a smartphone, according to the reported policy change. This means users will now have only one month to restore accidentally deleted pictures and videos. Once the 30-day period ends, the items will be permanently removed. The updated rule applies to items moved to the Trash going forward. So, if you accidentally delete an important photo, make sure to restore it before the recovery period expires. Google Photos may soon let you add events to your calendar
Apart from the Trash folder update, Google is reportedly developing another useful feature for its Ask Photos tool. According to an APK teardown of Google Photos version 8.0 reported by Android Authority, Google is testing an ‘Add to calendar’ option. The feature could allow users to create calendar entries simply by uploading or selecting a photo of an event poster, invitation, or announcement. Instead of manually entering the information, users could let Google Photos scan the image and identify important details. How will the new calendar feature work? The upcoming feature is expected to use AI to read information from event posters and invitations. It could identify details such as: Once these details are identified, Google Photos could automatically prepare a calendar entry. The entry may also include a link to the original image, allowing users to check the information whenever needed. When will Google roll out the new feature? The ‘Add to calendar’ option is reportedly still under development, and Google has not announced an official launch date. There may also be some accuracy issues. During testing, Android Authority found that Ask Photos incorrectly used a US time zone for a poster that did not mention any time zone. This resulted in an incorrect event time being added to the calendar.
