The first T20I match between Team India and England is scheduled to be played on Wednesday at the Banks Homes Riverside in Chester-Le-Street.
Ahead of the match, Team India’s all-rounder Suryansh Shedge heaped praise on batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is yet to make his debut in international cricket.
Speaking about the swashbuckling batsman, Shedge said that the 15-year-old cricketer doesn’t let the poor outing affect him.
“His mentality is incredible. He genuinely enjoys batting and never overcomplicates things. He has such strong belief in his ability that even if he gets out for a duck, he doesn’t let it affect him. He backs himself to score a hundred off 30 balls in the next game. That kind of self-belief is rare,” he said on JioStar.
The Mumbai-born cricketer said that Sooryavanshi plays with freedom, which makes him a dangerous batsman.
“He doesn’t carry any baggage from the previous ball or the previous match. He lives in the moment and plays with complete freedom. That is what makes him so dangerous. He is the perfect example of being instinctive and playing without fear,” Shedge added.
The “Men in Blue” have recently suffered a series loss by 0-2 against Ireland. This was the first series under the leadership of India’s newly-appointed captain Shreyas Iyer. After the loss against the Irishmen, Team India will look to bounce back against the English side.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see if Sooryavanshi gets his debut cap during the five-match T20I series. Earlier, several fans raised questions about not having handed him the debut cap in the series against Ireland. However, the left-handed batsman seems to be in fine touch in white-ball cricket.
