Innovative artificial oyster reefs have been created off Prince Edward Island to boost marine biodiversity and create habitats. In just two years, these structures attracted 45 different species, enhancing biomass significantly. They also offered vital surfaces for oyster growth, improving environmental conditions. The initiative, in collaboration with Lennox Island First Nation, highlights the ecological and cultural significance of restoring oyster populations and demonstrates new methods for revitalizing coastal ecosystems.
