8 (14) vs AUS at Perth, Oct 19, 2025: Rohit struggled to find his timing on a bouncy Perth pitch and was out early. India’s batting line-up eventually managed just 136-9 in a rain-curtailed 26-over-a-side game.

121* (125) vs AUS at Sydney, Oct 25, 2025: Rohit dismantled the Aussie attack, pacing his innings perfectly (13 x4s, 3x6s) en route to a magnificent ton that helped India chase the 237-run target with 69 balls to spare.

57 (51) vs SA at Ranchi, Nov 30, 2025: A fine half- century saw Rohit beginning the innings slowly, settling in, and then taking on the attack with some aggressive boundary-hitting (5x4s, 3x6s).

14 (8) vs SA at Raipur, Dec 3, 2025: Though the score doesn’t reflect the impact of the knock, Rohit looked dangerous while smashing pacer Nandre Burger for a hat-trick of fours to give India a fine start.

75 (73) vs SA at Vizag, Dec 6, 2025: Rohit continued his fluent form in this 271-run chase. He kept the scoreboard ticking with calculated risk-taking shots before falling short of a century.

16 (16) vs AFG at Dharamsala, Jun 13, 2026: It looked like Rohit was getting back into his groove after smashing two fours and a six, but a miscommunication with opening partner Shubman Gill led to him getting run out.

11 (21) vs ENG at Birmingham, Jul 14, 2026: In testing conditions, Rohit endured a massive struggle against England’s opening pace bowlers. Under pressure, he mistimed pacer Sam Curran’s delivery straight to mid-off.

26 (47) vs ENG at Cardiff, Jul 16, 2026: Enduring a painfully scratchy stay at the crease, where he lacked timing and control, Rohit looked uncomfortable against the short ball.

Here’s what they feel

Sitanshu Kotak, India’s batting coach
‘I don’t think that a player as big as Rohit can feel any pressure. He’s too good a player to feel that. On a day, there are a lot of batters who don’t get the momentum they are looking for, and that can happen. You might see a completely different innings from Rohit at Lord’s. So, I wouldn’t use the word ‘struggling’. Maybe the shots he normally plays on the up, because of the double bounce, he probably felt were not comfortable.’

R Ashwin, former India off-spinner
‘If you go and tell players that you want to move on from them, no player will feel good about it. I would also have felt bad. I’d think, ‘one bad series… is that enough? Every player is allowed one poor series.’ That’s how every player would feel. But once it’s done, you can at least say, ‘okay… the communication was clear.’

Parthiv Patel, former India wicketkeeper
‘If the Lord’s ODI is indeed the last match of his career, Rohit Sharma would want to sign off with a century.’
