Indian comedian Zakir Khan brought his multi-city comedy tour ‘Papa Yaar’ to a close at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome last weekend, after 122 shows in 60 cities.
Produced and promoted by TribeVibe Entertainment, the tour concluded on the eve of Father’s Day, making for a fitting conclusion to a show rooted in stories of family, love, and fatherhood.
In a special tribute, Zakir welcomed his father, Ustad Ismail Khan, on stage for the closing moments of the evening. Khan’s soulful sitar performance brought the journey of the tour to a full circle, culminating in an emotional finale with father and son.
Over the years, many attendees have seen their own lives reflected in Zakir Khan’s stories of family, growing up and everyday love, and this performance was no different.
Shoven Shah, who is the founder & CEO, TribeVibe Entertainment, added, “Papa Yaar is a historic achievement for India’s live entertainment industry and a powerful reflection of the scale that homegrown storytelling can achieve. The record-breaking response to this tour, culminating in 12 sold-out shows at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome, underscores Zakir’s extraordinary connection with audiences and the growing demand for premium, culturally relevant live experiences.”
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the Mumbai finale, several acclaimed names from India’s comedy and entertainment landscape made special appearances across the 12-show run including Tanmay Bhat, Munawar Faruqui, Abish Mathew, Johny Lever, Manan Desai, Sharul Channa and Rohan Joshi.
Once limited to intimate venues and niche audiences, Indian standup comedy has evolved into a powerful cultural force capable of filling arenas.
While elevating regional language comedy, Zakir has made humour, emotion, poetry and storytelling more relatable.
