This represents a direct increase of ₹17,000. Meanwhile, the price of its 512GB variant has been raised from ₹1,02,900 to ₹1,24,900. The main reason for this price increase is the rising cost of memory chips and other essential smartphone components. The sudden surge in demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and data centers has led to a severe shortage of semiconductors and memory components. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal in June, Apple’s then-CEO Tim Cook said that it had become impossible to prevent price increases. “We had been trying to avoid passing the cost burden we are facing on to customers, but the situation is now getting out of control.” Before Apple, several Android smartphone makers had also raised the prices of their handsets due to the rising cost of components.
