Abhishek Sharma returned to top form with a blistering knock, smashing the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack to all parts of the ground. The Indian star scored an unbeaten 135 off just 68 balls, registering his second century in the IPL.
Abhishek looked in complete control from the outset, attacking the DC bowlers during the powerplay. The left-hander provided a rapid start for the hosts and continued his dominance against the spinners.
Delhi Capitals’ spin trio of Nitish Rana, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav were taken apart by Abhishek, who consistently found the boundary. His innings included 10 fours and 10 sixes. With this knock, Abhishek became the first batter since Chris Gayle to hit more than 10 sixes in an IPL innings.
DC were left to rue a costly missed chance when Abhishek was dropped on 86. Nitish Rana sprinted towards the ball and got both hands to it but failed to hold on, handing Abhishek a crucial lifeline. The Indian batter made full use of the opportunity, playing a sensational innings to power SRH to 242/0 in 20 overs.
SRH post 242/0 against DC
Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start, scoring 67/0 at the end of the powerplay. The openers attacked from the very beginning, with Abhishek Sharma racing to 42 off 19 balls inside the first six overs.
After Travis Head’s dismissal, Abhishek and Ishan Kishan continued to dominate, maintaining a brisk scoring rate as SRH set a daunting target for DC. Heinrich Klaasen added the finishing touches with a quickfire 37 off 13 balls, ensuring SRH ended their innings on a high.
For DC, Axar Patel was the most economical bowler, finishing with figures of 1/23 from his four overs in what was otherwise a tough outing for the bowling unit.
