The Lucknow Super Giants scored 203 runs in their 20 overs against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Josh Inglis and Shahbaz Ahmed starred with the bat for the visitors.
Josh Inglis smashed a 17-ball half-century as the Lucknow Super Giants dominated the Chennai Super Kings in the early part of their match. The visitors raced to 91 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of the powerplay.
Inglis` innings included 10 fours and 6 sixes as he scored 85 runs in just 33 balls. His opening partner, Mitchell March, was dismissed for a run-a-ball 10 by Anshul Kamboj.
After a fast start, LSG lost wickets in clusters and were reduced to 115/4 at the halfway stage of the innings. However, a cameo from Shahbaz Ahmed took LSG past 200 against the Chennai Super Kings. Ahmed scored 43 runs in 25 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
For CSK, Kamboj took two wickets while Jamie Overton starred with 3 crucial wickets in the middle overs.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Ruturaj Gaikwad was happy to bowl first. The CSK skipper hoped that his team could continue their winning form.
“We`re going to bowl first. The simple reason, the wicket has been covered for a while, and there was some rain around as well, so nothing special. (Does the pitch play differently in day matches?) Yes, it does play differently. The other day game I thought it played too much differently than what we had expected. But I think our job is to adapt quickly as possible and try and do the rest. Bowling first, we will try and assess the couple of overs and then after that look to restrict them as soon as possible It`s pretty much positive how the last 7-8 games have gone for us. To turn it around after the first three games that we lost, it`s a commendable effort from everyone. We are playing with the same team.” Ruturaj Gaikwad said.
Confirmed playing XI for both teams:
Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Aiden Markram, Akshat Raghuwanshi, Himmat Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Shami, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Prince Yadav
Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Sanju Samson(w), Ruturaj Gaikwad(c), Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Jamie Overton, Akeal Hosein, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary
