In the IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious in the `Super Over` at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow.
During the match, KKR`s Rinku Singh delivered an unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 51 deliveries, laced with seven boundaries and five maximums. Later, he also scored the winning runs in the Super Over. The left-handed batsman also received the `Player of the Match` award for his crucial contributions.
Speaking about his heroics, former Team India cricketer Irfan Pathan heaped praise on Rinku by saying his ability to read situations and take control sets him apart from other players.
“Rinku Singh’s awareness in that final over was outstanding. He anticipated the bowler’s plans, adjusted his position, and created scoring options on both sides of the wicket. Those four sixes completely changed the momentum. Without those 26 runs, KKR wouldn’t have won this game. What stood out even more was the responsibility he took. There was a moment when he chose to keep strike, backing himself to finish the over, and he delivered under pressure. That’s what sets him apart, the ability to read situations and take control when it matters most,” he said on JioHotstar.
