The Rajasthan Royals got off to a steady start but were pegged back by the Lucknow Super Giants by the end of the powerplay. LSG’s pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan dominated with the ball, reducing RR to 44/3 after six overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal got off to a flying start, scoring 22 runs off 12 balls, but the left-hander was soon dismissed by Shami. On the very next delivery, Dhruv Jurel was also sent back, leaving RR in trouble during the powerplay.
Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was dismissed by Mohsin Khan following a brilliant catch by Digvesh Rathi. The 15-year-old managed just 8 runs off 11 balls.
For LSG, Shami picked up two wickets, while Mohsin claimed one in the first six overs.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Rishabh Pant opted to bowl first. The LSG skipper said the team preferred to chase after assessing the pitch conditions in the first innings.
“We are looking to bowl first. We have been playing in these conditions and are still figuring things out. The last few games have been challenging, and as players, we are trying to find solutions,” Rishabh Pant said.
Meanwhile, RR skipper Riyan Parag confirmed that the team would go in unchanged from their previous outing.
“I actually told my boys I was going to try and lose the toss because I was very confused, and I did that pretty well. So I’m happy with either bowling or batting. We feel batting first could be slightly better, as the pitch tends to slow down later. Hopefully, we can get a good start and build from there. Same team,” Parag said.
Confirmed Playing XI for both teams:
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel(w), Riyan Parag(c), Shimron Hetmyer, Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Brijesh Sharma, Nandre Burger
Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): Mitchell Marsh, Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, Mukul Choudhary, Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, Prince Yadav, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Mayank Yadav
