Karnataka minister Basavaraj Rayareddi stated Islam is a great religion. His comments at a Muslim community event drew sharp criticism from the opposition. BJP leader R Ashoka demanded Rayareddi withdraw his statements and apologize. Ashoka also called for the minister’s removal from the cabinet. The opposition accused the Congress government of an anti-Hindu mindset.
