The ODI World Cup 2027 is set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October 2 to November 21.
Ahead of the tournament, cricket fans will be eager to watch the highly anticipated clash between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan. The match is scheduled to be played on October 10 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Expressing his views on the clash, former Pakistan‘s pacer Sohail Tanvir said that it is always electrifying.
“It is always electrifying! The entire world eagerly anticipates these fixtures. Unfortunately, bilateral series between our nations no longer take place, so it is strictly in ICC tournaments or the Asia Cup that we get to see them battle,” he said.
The former pacer is also hopeful of the clash turning out to be engrossing and tight.
“Just like every cricket lover, I am eagerly awaiting that match. Above all, it should be an engrossing, tightly contested battle. As a cricket fan, what matters most is quality cricket, whoever triumphs at the end, it’s okay as long as it’s a great contest,” said Tanvir.
Earlier, a grand ceremony in Johannesburg unveiled the 12 venues that will host next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with eight venues in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia’s capital Windhoek selected as tournament locations.
The semi-final 1 and semi-final 2 of the tournament will be played on November 17 and 18, respectively. The final of the mega event is scheduled to be played on November 21, 2027.
