Meta is introducing ‘WhatsApp Plus’:Know about its pricing, features, and benefits
WhatsApp is testing a new optional subscription called WhatsApp Plus, designed to give users more control over how the app looks and works. The plan adds extra personalization features, but the core experience messages, voice calls, and end-to-end encryption will remain completely free for everyone. Right now, WhatsApp Plus is being tested with a limited number of users and is still under development. What is WhatsApp Plus? WhatsApp Plus is a premium add-on to the regular WhatsApp app. It does not replace the standard version. Instead, it introduces extra tools that help users customize their chats, themes, stickers, and settings. Importantly, users who don’t subscribe will still be able to use all essential features without any restrictions. The subscription only focuses on enhancements, not basic functions. How much will WhatsApp Plus cost? The subscription is expected to cost around EUR 2.49 (about Rs. 274) per month, though prices may differ depending on the region. Since the feature is still being tested, the final price could change before its wider release. Exclusive stickers with special effects Subscribers get access to premium sticker packs available inside the sticker store. Some of these stickers include animated overlay effects that briefly appear across the chat screen. Interestingly, even if the person receiving the sticker isn’t subscribed, they can still see these animation effects. Change your app theme with 18 new colours WhatsApp Plus lets users choose from 18 new theme colors, including: Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, Deep Navy, Bright Lavender, Charcoal Grey, Coral Orange, Forest Green, Teal, Burgundy, Earl Brown, Sandy Beige, Emerald Green, Bright Yellow, Olive Green, Fuchsia Pink, Crimson Red, Sunset Orange, and Golden Yellow. Once selected, the chosen color replaces WhatsApp’s default green across the entire app interface. Pick from 14 custom app icons The subscription also introduces 14 different app icons. These include: Users can choose the look that matches their personal style best. Pin up to 20 chats for faster access Normally, WhatsApp allows only 3 pinned chats at the top. With WhatsApp Plus, users can pin up to 20 chats. This makes it easier to manage important conversations without scrolling through long chat lists especially useful for people handling many messages daily. Get 10 premium ringtones Android users already have the option to set custom ringtones from their phone. But WhatsApp Plus adds 10 exclusive ringtones designed to make incoming calls easier to recognize. Apply chat settings to multiple conversations at once Another useful feature lets subscribers apply settings across entire chat lists at once. For example, users can: Any new chat added to that list will automatically follow the same settings. Availability and what’s coming next Currently, WhatsApp Plus is available only for Android users in testing. Support for iOS is expected later. Reports also suggest that WhatsApp is working on more premium features for subscribers. At the same time, the company plans to improve the regular version based on user feedback.
