A religious corridor dedicated to revered tribal deity Rani Kajal Mata will be constructed in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Thursday.

The Rani Kajal Mata Lok, modelled after the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, will be part of the government initiative to develop religious sites in the state as religious and cultural corridors, he said.

The tribal Bhil and Bhilala communities consider Rani Kajal Mata their family deity. An ancient temple dedicated to her is located in the Mathwad hills in Alirajpur district, attracting a large number of devotees from not only from Madhya Pradesh, but also adjoining Gujarat and Maharashtra.

“I announce the construction of the Rani Kajal Mata Lok,” the Chief Minister said at the ‘Balram Krishi Mahotsav’ held in Bhabhra town (officially named Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar).

Yadav said tribal areas of the state are like pilgrimage sites.

According to officials, Alirajpur district has received very little rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season, severely affecting the sowing of Kharif crops.

Highlighting steps to enhance irrigation facilities in the tribal-dominated district, the Chief Minister said the Dahi Lift (Narmada Pipeline) Irrigation Project will be inaugurated by Diwali.

The CM noted the Sondwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project, which has capacity to irrigate 55,000 hectares, will benefit nearly 70,000 farmers.

At the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated development works worth Rs 53.55 crore in the district and performed ground-breaking ceremony for multiple projects valued at Rs 303.34 crore.

Earlier, Yadav garlanded a life-size statue of legendary freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad at the Azad Prerna Jyoti Sthal in Bhabhra and paid rich tributes to the revolutionary on his 120th birth anniversary.

Azad was born on July 23, 1906, in Bhabhra and sacrificed his life for the nation on February 27, 1931.
