No parent a visitor: Karnataka HC asks courts to use ‘parenting time’
Karnataka high court has directed family courts to replace the term ‘visitation’ with ‘parenting time’ in custody orders. This change aims to improve how children perceive their relationships with non-custodial parents. The directive was issued during a custody case involving a nine-year-old boy and his father. Justice Lalitha Kanneganti made this observation to encourage a more positive perspective on parental roles.
