No rain in 122 taluks for three weeks; 50% crop losses likely in Karnataka
Karnataka is grappling with a staggering 50% downturn in agricultural and horticultural yields. A total of 102 taluks have been reported as drought-affected, with the situation worsening in certain areas. The south-interior parts are experiencing the worst effects of the ongoing drought. To support residents, the government has earmarked Rs 2,600 crore for relief, and Chief Minister Shivakumar is set to petition for additional aid from the central government.
