In the IPL 2026 match against Gujarat Titans (GT), Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a dominating victory by 99 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The win helped the “Paltan” break its losing streak of four matches.

In the second essay of the game, MI`s Ashwani Kumar, who came in as an Impact Player, bagged four wickets by conceding 24 runs in four overs.

Speaking after the match, the pacer said that the players in the team were very positive even when they were unable to win games.

“We were looking at what mistakes we made. We did what the coaches were telling us to do. We didn`t have a low mindset. Our team was very positive, even if we were losing,” he said.

He then spoke about the preparations before the clash in Ahmedabad.

“I was working on my yorkers and swing. I was waiting for the right moment,” said Ashwani.

MI`s Tilak Varma was named as the “Player of the Match” for his maiden century in the league`s history. Facing 45 balls, the left-handed batsman smashed an unbeaten 101 runs, laced with eight boundaries and seven maximums.

Currently, the “Paltan” is placed in the seventh position with two wins and four defeats. The Hardik Pandya-led team also has a net run rate (NRR) of +0.067 and four points.

The “Men in Blue and Gold” will now gear up to lock horns with fierce rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on April 23 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
