PAK vs SL T20Is: Sahibzada Farhan to lead Pakistan in series against Sri Lanka

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the men’s national squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The board has also released the squad for the ODI tri-series with England and Sri Lanka.
Sahibzada Farhan has been named as the captain of the T20I squad. Recently, the right-handed batsman led the “Men in Green” in the recently concluded Asian Games.
Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the ODI team in the tri-series.
The first T20I match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on October 9 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Punjab province of Pakistan. The second and third T20I matches between the teams will be played on October 11 and 13, respectively, at the same venue.
After the conclusion of the three-match T20I series, Pakistan will participate in the ODI tri-series with England and Sri Lanka. Rawalpindi will host the opening three matches, before the tournament moves to Lahore for the remaining league matches and the final.
Recently, Pakistan managed to reach the final of the Asian Games 2026, but suffered a defeat by 19 runs against the arch-rivals, Team India at the Aichi Prefectural Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Team India’s Abhishek Sharma played a knock of 61 runs in 28 balls, which included three boundaries and seven maximums. Tilak Varma also smashed an unbeaten 51 runs off 22 deliveries, including three boundaries and four maximums. With this, the “Men in Blue” posted a total of 211 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
In an attempt to chase the target, Pakistan managed to reach 192 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Hasan Nawaz was the top performer as he garnered 96 runs in 51 balls, with the help of five boundaries and seven maximums.
