Pentagon signs deal with 7 leading AI companies:Pentagon reached agreements with AI giants for using their advanced tools

The Pentagon has signed agreements with seven major artificial intelligence companies to bring their advanced tools into the Defense Department’s most secure networks. The move is part of a wider plan to work with more AI providers and strengthen the military’s technology capabilities. Which companies are included? The new partners include SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, NVIDIA, Reflection, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services. Some of these companies were already working with the Pentagon, but now their tools will be available in highly classified environments known as Impact Levels 6 and 7. This will allow more military teams to use advanced AI systems in sensitive operations. Why Anthropic is missing? One major company, Anthropic, was not included in the agreement. Earlier this year, the Pentagon labeled it a supply-chain risk and blocked its tools from being used by the department and its contractors. The decision followed disagreements over limits on how the military could use its AI technology. However, officials say the situation may still change. President Donald Trump recently suggested the company is improving its position with the administration, which could lead to its return in the future. GenAI.mil already widely used The Pentagon also shared that its main AI platform, GenAI.mil, has already been used by more than 1.3 million Defense Department personnel in just five months. This shows how quickly AI tools are becoming part of everyday military work. At the same time, officials warned that Anthropic’s powerful “Mythos” model has raised concerns because of its strong cyber capabilities, which some fear could help hackers if misused.
