PM attends India Mobile Congress:Asia’s largest tech event to focus on 6G policy, AI; Modi says smartphones gave easy access to govt services
Speaking on the second day of the India Mobile Congress (IMC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that understanding India’s core priorities is key to knowing how mobile phones and data became so affordable in the country. “It was from this very stage that we launched 5G in India in 2022, and by 2023, we demonstrated the rapid pace of our 5G rollout,” the Prime Minister recalled. He emphasized the role of technology in governance, saying, “Over the last 10 to 12 years, mobile communication has emerged as a vital tool for good governance, which lies at the very core of our digital vision. We often hear that data and phones are highly affordable in India. But to understand how this was achieved, one must understand India’s strategic focus.”
