The final day of the round-robin phase in the Rugby Premier League Season 2 saw Hyderabad Heroes, Mumbai Dreamers, and Delhi Redz claim victories at the Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Friday.
Finishing at the summit of the standings, the Hyderabad Heroes have booked a semifinal showdown against the Chennai Bulls. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Bravehearts are scheduled to lock horns with the Mumbai Dreamers in the second knockout clash this Sunday.
Hyderabad Heroes beat Kolkata Banga Tigers 28-0
The Heroes asserted their dominance from the opening whistle with a high-speed offensive strategy and rapid ball distribution that pulled the Tigers’ defence out of position. Sumit Roy started the scoring early on before Ravuama Seruvakula executed a sharp dummy on the left flank to double the hosts’ cushion.
Mumbai Dreamers win against Chennai Bulls 19-12
The Dreamers established early authority through a defensive approach and clinical offensive transitions, immediately pushing the Bulls onto the back foot. Prince Khatri and James Turner both crossed the whitewash in the opening quarter to build a handy lead, which was further padded after the interval when Sebastiaan Jobb showed great acceleration down the right touchline.
Chennai steadily worked their way back into the contest by stringing together better possession, enabling Hidayat Jerffrydin to pierce through on the right side to open their account. However, Mumbai kept their cool during the final minutes, shutting down the Bulls’ attacking avenues to wrap up the win.
Delhi Redz register 35-33 upset over Bengaluru Bravehearts
The Bravehearts enjoyed an explosive start to the match as Kitiona Vai burst through to score in the opening seconds. Delhi answered back swiftly by stretching the play across the width of the pitch, setting up Samuel Asati for a well-orchestrated try. Akuila Rokolisoa quickly put Bengaluru back in front with a phenomenal solo run before Vai secured his brace off a slick combination play in the second quarter.
Facing a 12-point deficit heading into the final period, Delhi made an incredible turnaround. Gonzalez triggered the resurgence from the left side before Josep Serres crept closer with another clinical finish near the touchline.
