Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles revealed she suffered a recent health scare and thanked her close circle for reaching out and checking in on her. Biles wrote on social media that it was one of the scariest experiences of her life. She did not reveal details of the medical emergency though.

“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age, but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” Biles wrote in an Instagram story on Saturday alongside a photo of her wrist sporting hospital bracelet tags. “This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life,” she wrote, noting that it was made all the more frightening with husband Jonathan Owens away for off-season training with his Indianapolis Colts NFL team. “I’ve been in bed resting this week,” Biles wrote. “I’ll explain sooner or later but [shout-out] to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers.”

Biles, 29, is a seven-time Olympic champion. Three of those golds came at the 2024 Paris Games, where she made a return to the Olympic stage after a lengthy mental health break.
