The Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2026 match on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the match, former Team India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara said that there is a strong need for the “Paltan” to bounce back for the fans and the players, who have worked hard in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league.
“Mumbai Indians have faced several challenges this season, and there is a strong need for a comeback, for the fans, the team`s pride, and for the players who have worked hard. When you are such a big team, expectations are high, and they will be keen to respond,” he said on Star Sports.
He then said that even the Super Giants will look to play for their pride, irrespective of their chances to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2026.
“At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants have also had their share of issues. So, both teams will be playing for pride, regardless of their playoff chances,” said Pujara.
Currently, the Hardik Pandya-led MI is placed in the ninth position with two wins and seven defeats. The side also has a net run rate (NRR) of -0.803 and four points. On the other hand, the Super Giants are in the 10th position with two wins and six losses. They have a net run rate (NRR) of -1.106 and four points.
