In the IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious by five wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

During the run chase of 181 runs, SRH`s wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan played a match-winning knock of 70 runs off 47 deliveries, laced with seven boundaries and three maximums.

Speaking about his knock, former Team India cricketer Sanjay Bangar said that it was Kishan`s one of the finest innings. He also said that the left-handed batsman never looked hurried, which is a tremendous quality in the shortest format of the game.

“This has to be one of the defining knocks of Ishan Kishan’s IPL career, and probably one of his finest innings in the tournament as well. Ever since we’ve seen this new version of Ishan Kishan, the one thing that really stands out is his composure. He never looked hurried, and that is a tremendous quality to have in a fast-paced T20 format. To have the belief to stay till the very end and build that partnership was outstanding. To have the belief to stay till the very end and build that partnership was outstanding,” he said on Star Sports.

The former cricketer then said Kishan`s innings was a kind of knock that CSK`s head coach Stephen Fleming would have expected from his team`s skipper.

“The kind of role Stephen Fleming would probably have expected from someone like Ruturaj was delivered by Ishan Kishan in the other innings. He stitched the partnership at the right time, attacked when needed, and ensured Klaasen got as much of the strike as possible. There were so many aspects to admire about this innings. It was an absolute joy to watch him bat in such terrific fashion,” added Bangar.

The Super Kings will now lock horns with the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
