TRAI relaunches MyCall app:Now customers can rate call quality, this will help improve service quality

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, ieTRAI, launched a new and improved version of its ‘TRAI MyCall’ mobile application on August 3. Through this app, telecom consumers will be able to directly rate their voice calling experience and report it. The regulator’s objective is to better assess and improve service quality by combining consumer feedback with technical network data. What is the TRAI MyCall App? MyCall is a platform that provides users with the facility to give real-time feedback on voice calls. Along with this, users can also share information about call-related network parameters. This feedback is visible to Telecom Service Providers, i.e., TSPs, and TRAI. This helps operators understand where improvements are needed in network performance. Additionally, the regulator gets a solid foundation for assessing Quality of Experience, i.e., QoE. App’s New Features: 1 to 5 Star Rating and Specific Problem Reporting The newly launched app provides users with several special features: Instant Rating: Users can rate their calling experience on a 1 to 5 star scale after the call ends. Problem Reporting: If a user faces issues like call drops, voice delay, voice echo, one-way voice, cross-connection, or delay in call connection, they can directly report it on the app. Complaint Reaches Operator Directly: The data received from the app (which is shared without revealing identity) will be visible to both the concerned Telecom Service Provider (TSP) and TRAI. This will help operators understand where network improvement is needed. Consumer Participation Necessary: Chairman At the launch event, TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said that every telecom consumer experiences network quality themselves. This app will empower consumers to share their opinions. He said that this data will help service providers identify network deficiencies and fix them. Lahoti appealed to mobile users to download the app and provide feedback regularly. Is This Mandatory? While answering questions from journalists, the Chairman clarified that the use of this app is completely voluntary. TRAI has no plan to integrate it into phone calling apps or make it mandatory. He clarified that action against operators will not be based solely on app feedback, but will depend on TRAI’s technical standards of network monitoring and drive tests.
