WhatsApp Plus is finally in India:What will you get for ₹79 per month? Personalised ringtones, Themes, AI-generated emojis, and more
After launching in a few Western countries earlier this month, Meta has now started rolling out WhatsApp Plus in India. The premium subscription adds several customization features to WhatsApp, giving users more ways to personalize the app. Many users have already started receiving notifications about the new subscription. Meta is also offering a one-month free trial, after which the service costs Rs 79 per month. What does WhatsApp Plus offer? WhatsApp Plus is mainly designed for people who enjoy customizing their apps. Rather than adding new messaging features, it focuses on changing how WhatsApp looks and feels. Subscribers get access to 18 exclusive color themes, including options like Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, Forest Green, and Fuchsia Pink. Users can also replace the standard WhatsApp icon with one of 14 alternative designs, ranging from simple and clean to more creative styles. More than just themes The subscription also includes: These additions are aimed at making the app feel more personal and easier to organize. What stays free? Meta has not changed any of WhatsApp’s core features. Voice and video calls, status updates, messaging, and end-to-end encryption remain completely free for all users. WhatsApp Plus only adds customization options and does not affect the platform’s basic functionality. How to subscribe Signing up is simple: Once activated, users will receive a confirmation notification. If the subscription option is not visible yet, the feature may not have reached that account and could appear in the coming days. Should you buy it? The answer depends on how much you value personalization. If you spend a lot of time on WhatsApp and enjoy changing themes, icons, ringtones, and chat layouts, the Rs 79 monthly fee may feel worthwhile. However, if you are satisfied with the app’s current design, WhatsApp Plus does not offer any essential new features.
