In the third T20I match against New Zealand, Team India secured a win by six wickets at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.

During the match, Team India’s opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided the side with an explosive start.

Facing just 19 balls, Sooryavanshi smashed 45 runs, including four boundaries and the same number of maximums, whereas Abhishek garnered 113 runs off just 38 deliveries, with the help of nine boundaries and 11 maximums.

After the match, New Zealand’s opening batsman Finn Allen heaped praise on Abhishek by saying that once the left-handed batsman gets going, he is hard to stop.

“With a game like that, you take a quick overview, learn what you can from it and move on. I think we put up what we felt was a competitive total with the bat, but conditions tend to get a little easier as the game progresses. When someone like Abhishek Sharma gets going, he is pretty hard to stop. It was just one of those things, and we have to move on to the next game,” he told the reporters.

Following the explosive batting display by Abhishek and Sooryavanshi, New Zealand’s batsman also said that they showed why they are good players.

“As a group, it is always frustrating when things do not go your way. I would not single out the batters or the bowlers as being more frustrated than the others. When players like Abhishek and Vaibhav get going, they are difficult for any opposition to contain. They showed exactly why they are such good players,” said Allen.

The win has also helped the “Men in Blue” seal the five-match T20I series by 3-0, with two games yet to be played.

The fourth T20I match between the “Men in Blue” and the “Black Caps” is scheduled to be played on October 30 at the Eden Park in Auckland.
