Your normal PC could soon work like an AI teammate:Nvidia launches ‘RTX Spark’ AI chip for computers, capable of handling complex tasks on users’ behalf

For decades, personal computers have largely followed the same model: users open applications and perform tasks manually. Nvidia now wants to change that.
The company has introduced RTX Spark, a new AI-focused chip that aims to turn PCs into platforms for intelligent AI agents capable of assisting users, automating workflows, and handling increasingly complex tasks on their behalf. According to Nvidia, this is not just another PC upgrade; it is the beginning of a new generation of computers built around artificial intelligence. As Huang put it: This reinvention of the computer is as big of a deal as the reinvention of the phone into what we now know as the smartphone.
What is Nvidia’s RTX Spark Chip? RTX Spark is Nvidia’s new ARM-based chip designed for Windows PCs. The company describes it as a ‘superchip’ built for personal AI assistants, also known as AI agents. These AI agents can perform tasks on behalf of users, helping automate everyday work without requiring constant human input. Nvidia says the chip delivers up to one petaflop of AI computing power and can support up to 128GB of unified memory. It combines thousands of GPU cores with powerful CPU performance to handle AI workloads directly on the device. The chip will power upcoming Windows laptops and desktops from companies including Lenovo, HP, Dell, Microsoft Surface, Asus and MSI. How is this different from a normal PC? Traditional computers work like tools. You open applications, click buttons, and manually perform tasks. RTX Spark-powered PCs are designed to work more like teammates. Instead of simply responding to commands, these systems can run AI agents that help users automate tasks, assist with workflows, and handle repetitive work in the background. Built for creators and power users
Nvidia is also targeting content creators with RTX Spark. According to the company, PCs powered by the new chip will be able to: Nvidia also revealed that Adobe is optimizing Photoshop and Premiere Pro specifically for RTX Spark devices. Features such as Generative Fill in Photoshop and Generative Extend in Premiere Pro are expected to run faster on these systems. Slim laptops, big AI power Nvidia says laptops powered by RTX Spark will be surprisingly thin and lightweight. The new systems are expected to feature: Microsoft has already announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, one of the first devices powered by RTX Spark. Nvidia’s bigger AI vision The company used the event to showcase more than just consumer PCs. Nvidia also introduced its new Vera CPUs and the Vera Rubin AI supercomputer platform, which is designed to power large-scale AI systems and data centres. Huang described Vera Rubin as: The most ambitious endeavour in Nvidia history. The platform is designed specifically for AI agents, helping companies run massive AI workloads more efficiently while using less power and water. OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX were listed among early adopters of Nvidia’s new AI infrastructure. When will RTX Spark PCs be available? Nvidia says RTX Spark-powered laptops and desktop PCs will start arriving this autumn. Manufacturers including Lenovo, Dell, HP, Asus, MSI and Microsoft are expected to launch devices based on the new platform.
With RTX Spark, Nvidia is making a bold bet that the next big shift in personal computing will not be faster processors or better graphics alone. Instead, it believes the future PC will come with an AI assistant built directly into the machine, ready to work alongside users rather than simply waiting for commands.
