Pizza lovers can rejoice because there is a new pizzeria in town in South Mumbai as 1441 Pizzeria has re-opened its new flagship restaurant in Fort in Mumbai, a decade after its first outlet in the neighbourhood at Cheetah Gate, not too far away.

The new outlet, a stone throw away from Hutatma Chowk metro station and not too far away from Churchgate station, is approximately 2,000 sq. ft. and seating 60–70 diners.

At the heart of the space is a fully glazed kitchen that places the art of pizza-making in full view through a see-through kitchen. Diners can watch their pizza being made with hand-stretched dough topped, prepared and placed into the wood-fired oven, before they can enjoy their delicious pizza.

New on the menu

The reopened pizzeria has introduced new dishes, with select Italian delicacies making their debut at Fort before being introduced at other 1441 Pizzeria outlets. Complementing the food menu is an all-day coffee menu and bar offering that brought together Italian classics and Indian favourites, extending the restaurant’s appeal beyond lunch and dinner.

History of 1441 pizzeria

Founded in 2015, 1441 Pizzeria came to the city at a time when authentic pizza was still unheard of in pockets that relied on fast food chains to enjoy the Italian treat that is a favourite among all. The Indian pizzeria‘s approach is centered on the details that shape a great pizza, from the flour and fermentation to the ingredients and the intense heat of a wood-fired oven.

Every pizza began with Extraordinary flour, a custom-formulated soft wheat 00 flour developed by Italian Master Chef Renato Viola, creator of the Louis XIII pizza, and milled in Italy by Agugiaro & Figna exclusively for 1441 Pizzeria. The dough is rested for 24 hours before being stretched by hand, topped with San Marzano tomato sauce and baked in a wood-fired oven.

Where: 1441 Pizzeria, Hutatma Chowk, Fort

New cookie shop in South Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda

Elsewhere in the neighbourhood, Mumbaikars have one more reason to make a trip to South Mumbai, as a new cookie shop has opened in Kala Ghoda.

Interestingly, this will be the third store in the city for Ben’s Cookies, the British cookie brand established in 1983, after opening in Kurla and BKC this year. However, this is also their seventh store in India across Delhi NCR and Mumbai in just four months.

Founded at Oxford’s historic Covered Market, Ben’s Cookies is known for its chunky, gooey cookies and freshly baked Cookies. The choice of Kala Ghoda puts a 10-12 seater cookie spot for Mumbaikars right in the middle of heritage buildings, art galleries and cultural landmarks while offering diners freshly baked cookies and coffee while spending time in the neighborhood.
