Former India pacer Raju Kulkarni will continue his role as Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) chairman for the upcoming 2026-27 domestic season. MCA announced the new CIC, including former India players Sangita Katware and Preeti Dimri, on Monday.
MCA also confirmed that former India captains Dilip Vengsarkar and Diana Edulji will continue to serve as Cricket Advisors.
Kulkarni stressed that winning championships across all age groups will be his team’s primary goal this season. “We are making sure that no talent is lost. But the ultimate goal is to win all the trophies, not only the Ranji Trophy. Winning championships across all age groups is our goal. And we are quite capable of doing that. Yes, we missed it this year [2025-26], but we are getting more and more organised by trying to develop a lot of talent from the grass root level and hopefully we will succeed,” Kulkarni told mid-day on Monday.
Former Mumbai captain Kulkarni, 63, who played three Tests and 10 ODIs, spoke about the initiatives taken by the committee. Kulkarni said: “We have taken so many initiatives right from the U-10 age groups to U-23 for pacers as well as spinners. We also had high performance camps for all age groups, including seniors, and conducted lectures on nutrition, sports psychology, sleep management, and financial management for the benefit of players and we are hopeful about getting good results.”
Kulkarni also revealed that MCA’s summer vacation camps need a proper structure to avoid its misuse. “Summer Vacation Camps really need a lot of attention and a lot of structuring to be done because it is the backbone of Mumbai cricket. The camps desperately need to be structured, and this is what CIC will request to the MCA,” Kulkarni added.
