Rinku Singh has been appointed vice-captain of the India A squad for the upcoming ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup following Rajat Patidar’s withdrawal due to ongoing injury management, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Sunday.

Patidar informed the BCCI that he preferred not to be considered for 50-over selection while managing his fitness issues, leading to his exclusion from the tournament roster. In response, the Men’s Selection Committee named Rinku as deputy to captain Tilak Varma and selected Ayush Badoni as Patidar’s replacement in the 15-member setup.

“Rajat Patidar has communicated to the BCCI that he should not be considered for selection in the 50-over format as he manages his existing injuries. Accordingly, he has been withdrawn from the India A squad for the ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Rinku Singh as vice-captain, while Ayush Badoni has been added to the squad in Patidar’s place,” the BCCI media release read.

Rajat Patidar is managing an injury and has opted out of 50-over cricket for now. The RCB captain will hope to be fit and ready for the IPL campaign, where the two-time defending champions will aim to be the first team ever to win three IPL trophies in a row.
