Drive wrong, pay more: Karnataka mulls Rs 5,000 fine for repeat traffic offenders
The Karnataka government is considering increasing fines for traffic violations, particularly for habitual offenders. This proposal includes escalating penalties and accumulating negative points for repeat violations. Additionally, the government plans to ban half-helmets to enhance safety for two-wheeler riders. Measures for regulating low-speed electric two-wheelers and promoting carpooling are also under discussion. Efforts are being made to improve public transport facilities and enforce traffic rules more strictly.
