Karnataka bus corps in cash crunch: Rs 8,095cr liabilities, Rs 5,648cr Shakti dues
Karnataka’s four road transport corporations are under financial strain, with liabilities reaching ₹8,095 crore and pending reimbursements of ₹5,648 crore. The implementation of the Shakti scheme has aggravated this situation, as reimbursement for free travel has been delayed. With operational losses accumulating, the corporations are struggling to manage salaries, fuel expenses, and maintenance costs. Furthermore, there is a significant manpower shortage of around 15,718 staff across all corporations.
