In the fourth T20I match against Team India, the West Indies registered a win by 24 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

During the match, Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson played a knock of 56 runs in 23 balls. His knock included six boundaries and four maximums.

Speaking about the loss, the right-handed batsman feels that Tilak Varma’s wicket was the turning point in the game. Samson also stated that Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy were batting well in the pressure situation.

“The turning point of the match was when Tilak got out. We were cruising, scoring those 10-12 runs per over really nicely. Reddy and Tilak were batting really well in the pressure situation. Till that moment, I think we were in the chase. That is actually a great thing to have after losing five wickets, having that kind of control two young cricketers taking on the pressure and taking on the West Indian bowling line-up,” he told the reporters.

Despite scoring a half-century, the Keralam-born cricketer said that he is “gutted” and would have liked to be on the winning side.

“Whatever you do feels very different when you are on the losing side, so I am actually a bit gutted at the moment. I definitely wanted to be on the winning side. I really enjoyed batting out there. When you are chasing a score like that, there are no second thoughts – you just have to back your instincts, your power game, and that is what I did. So I really enjoyed the knock, but I would have liked to be on the winning side,” said Samson.

Samson also became the sixth Indian batsman to register 100 sixes in the shortest format of the game. Currently, he has 102 maximums to his name in 76 T20I appearances for the “Men in Blue”.
