IND vs WI ODIs: Virat Kohli set to become second batsman to achieve THIS feat

Team India is set to lock horns with the West Indies in the three-match ODI series. The first match is scheduled to be played on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Ahead of the series, Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is set to achieve a new feat in the format’s history. The right-handed batsman is falling short of just 59 runs to complete his tally of 15,000 runs in the format.

Currently, Kohli has 14,941 ODI runs to his name. So far, he has represented India in 314 ODI matches and has 54 tons and 79 half-centuries, with a top score of 183 runs.

If he manages to score the required runs, the Delhi-born cricketer will then become the second batsman in international cricket to complete 15,000 ODI runs.

Before him, only legendary Team India’s batsman Sachin Tendulkar has achieved the feat. He concluded his ODI career with a total of 18,426 runs in 463 appearances for the “Men in Blue”.

The second clash is scheduled to be played on September 30 at the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Maharaja Yadvindra Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host the third clash on October 3.

With this, both teams will prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. The ODI World Cup 2027 is set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Earlier, a grand ceremony in Johannesburg unveiled the 12 venues that will host next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with eight venues in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia’s capital Windhoek selected as tournament locations.
